mental health changemakers fellowship
Over the course of a school year, Mental Health Changemaker Fellows expand their knowledge and evolve their SEL skills.
The Fellowship equips educators with practical Tier 1 Mental Health and Social Emotional Learning tools they can immediately use with students, while connecting them to a national community of peers committed to supporting the whole child. Fellows include classroom teachers, school counselors, social workers, administrators, deans, and district leaders nationwide.
Fellows receive:
A $500 stipend.
Lifetime access to Upstream Education’s Tier 1 Mental Health and Social Emotional Learning tools curriculum (120+ lessons!).
Ongoing professional development to implement Upstream Education’s curriculum successfully.
Monthly virtual one-hour calls with subject matter experts in the mental health field including Kate Sheehan, George Ramsay, and Dr. Lee Bynum.
Certificate of program completion with 12 professional development hours.
A virtual community of like-minded educators.

Fellowship Commitments
Participants in the 2026-27 Mental Health Changemakers Fellowship must be able to meet the following requirements:
Attend our virtual Summer Institute training (date will be based on fellows’ schedules)
Attend 7 of the 9 monthly virtual coaching calls (these occur the first Thursday of each month at 5pm MT/7pm ET)
Implement Upstream’s curriculum with their students
Complete a Learning Capture Document that reflects on their implementation
